Professor Philip C. Sookram (M.Acc., C.P.A.) has 12+ years of professional accounting and higher education experience providing trusted financial advice.
In 2024, Professor Sookram was awarded tenure and granted promotion to Associate Professor of Accounting at Saint Peter's University (a milestone accomplish for teaching faculty members). Professor Sookram was also elected by the Saint Peter's University faculty to serve on the Saint Peter's University Strategic Planning and Budget Committee, tasked with the oversight of a $100 million budget (2024 - 2027)
In 2021, Professor Sookram was named Program Director of the M.S. in Accountancy graduate program at Saint Peter's University, responsible for successfully conferring 30+ Masters degrees since.
In 2020, Professor Sookram received both a "40 Under 40" award by the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), and an "Emerging Leader" award by the New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJCPA), two historic professional state accounting societies in America, recognized for his positive contributions towards furthering the Accounting profession.
In 2018, Professor Sookram began his teaching career as a full-time,
tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Guarini School of Business at Saint Peter's University, located in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he has taught accounting to over 900 students, undergraduate and graduate.
In 2017, Professor Sookram earned his M.S. in Accountancy graduate degree from Rutgers Business School, located in Newark, New Jersey, and was inducted as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, graduating at the top of the class with a 4.0 GPA.
In 2016, Professor Sookram became a licensed C.P.A. in the State of New York.
In 2012, Professor Sookram completed his bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of Miami, located in Coral Gables, Florida. He spent three years on the Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee, serving as Chair from 2011-2012, with the direct responsibility of overseeing the allocation of a $1.3 million budget to 300+ campus organizations.
